Another morning in the Kirkland household began as it always did; full of chaos, mayhem, syrup, and shouting.

Alfred stuck a piece of toast in his mouth, smearing butter and jelly all over his face.  With his teeth sunk into the warm bread, he jumped from his chair, making a mad dash for the living room.  You caught him by the back of his super hero pajama shirt.

"Alfred, sit down!" you sighed, lifting the boy up and setting him back in his seat.

"But Mooooooooooom!" he whined through the toast.  You raised an eyebrow, pulling the piece of bread out of his mouth and setting it back on his plate.

"Just sit still and eat your breakfast, Alfie," you ordered, trying to brush out his bed-head with your fingers.  Matthew giggled softly and you rolled your eyes.  Where was your husband?  He was almost always in the kitchen, helping you keep tabs on the boys while you made breakfast and tea.

"Arthur!" you called, pouring a steaming mug of tea for yourself.  You had already fixed Arthur's tea into a travel mug so he could take it with him as he made his way to work.  He had always appreciated the gesture, calling it a "little taste of home".

The sounds of hurried footsteps and muffled swearing met your ears as you sipped your drink.  Rolling your (_e/c_) eyes, you glanced at the clock.  He wasn't supposed to leave for work for another half hour.

Arthur ran into the kitchen, his tie crooked and his blazer unbuttoned, and darted over to the counter, grabbing his brief case.

"What's the rush?" you purred, stopping him long enough to straighten his tie and button his blazer.

"They moved the meeting up!  I just got the page." he stuttered, impatiently smoothing down his suit.  "How do I look?"

"Very handsome," you said with a grin.  He flashed a tired smile before hurrying around to the table.  The Englishman snagged a piece of toast before smoothing Matthew's hair down.

"Boys, behave yourselves today," he chastised, sending a suspicious look in Alfred's direction.

"Okay," Mattie responded faithfully, while his brother muttered a "Do we have to?"

Arthur placed chaste kisses on their cheeks, ruffling Alfred's already messy hair.  So much for your earlier efforts to brush it out...

"Bye boys!" With that, he rushed over to plant a quick kiss on your lips, which provoked a loud "EW!" from the twins.  "See you tonight, love." With a cheeky grin, he grabbed his travel cup and dashed out the door.

You sighed, shaking your head sadly as you pitied your poor husband.  He already had a lot of work to do, but now they had the gull to change his scheduale whenever they pleased.  You brushed your (_h/c_) hair back before having to lunge after Alfred, who had attempted to escape again.

"Alfred..." You began in a warning tone.  He sulked slightly, pulling an adorable pout.

"But Dad got to!" he protested.

"Dad can do a lot of things that you can't, sweetie," you reminded him, shooing him back to his chair.  "Besides, he would've been late for work."
